Finding Hemp and Fiber in the MMORPG New World can be difficult if you don’t know where to look. This is definitely one of the more common questions I’ve seen players frequently asking when they’re just starting out. Fortunately, there are a couple of tricks on how to find Hemp so you can get right back to crafting new gear.
How to Find Hemp in New World
One thing the early missions don’t teach you is that there are different biomes around this world. Each one is more likely to have certain resources such as trees, herbs, or precious minerals like Iron. However, for this guide the main two biomes you’ll want to track down are the Forest and Grasslands.
Fortunately, they’re not too difficult to find since they’re primarily green areas on the map. Regardless of which area you start in since there are different starting zones, you’ll likely have these biomes nearby. And if you can track down the Grasslands especially, you’re bound to run into fields full of Hemp.
If you open up your map and click into the Resource Locations tab on the left side, this will show what resources are common where.
You’ll want to search for tall green plants that have a purple/pink color along the top of them. The screenshot at the top of this New World guide shows what they look like. Also, they vary in size so you can find smaller bushes of them as well.
Just make sure that you have a Harvesting Sickle crafted so you can gather it. Otherwise, you can craft one relatively easily at any camp once you’ve gained the ability to place one. It doesn’t need to be yours, however, to start crafting at one. All you need is 1 Green Wood and 1 Flint to craft a Harvesting Sickle.
I recommend searching the Monarch’s Bluffs region for Hemp since there’s a lot of Grasslands there. This is one of the starter zones that you can explore a little more safely without having to worry about as many high-level enemies. Try looking along the border between Monarch’s Bluffs and Windsward.
How to Get Fiber in New World
One of the other common uses for Fiber is making a Fishing Pole at a camp.
It can be a little confusing trying to figure out how to get Fiber in New World since you don’t gather it from a plant named Fiber. This has led to plenty of clueless players searching Aeternum without realizing how simple it is. All you need to do is gather Hemp plants because you’ll get Fiber in return.
This is why it can be confusing if you’re still new to New World and haven’t gathered much yet. Fortunately, there aren’t any Harvesting level requirements to start gathering Hemp. So you can go crazy harvesting as much as you’d like. And if your Flint Harvesting Sickle breaks, it’s free to repair.
