Learn all the different exits and extractions on the Ground Zero map in Escape from Tarkov. As usual with any map guide here at Slyther Games, I’ve also included info on all the special extractions as well. It’s easy to get confused and not know why an extract isn’t working considering Tarkov doesn’t tell you a whole lot. That aside, this map was originally planned for only players below level 20, but the developer has changed their mind. There will be a separate matchmaking queue for those below 15.
I’ll try to update this guide with new maps and information as the community learns more about it. Despite this map having a level limit to help new players, it’s worth mentioning it’s still tough. Don’t be surprised if you come across a mine and immediately lose your run.

Every Ground Zero Extract/Exit in Escape from Tarkov
Basic Ground Zero Map
Ground Zero reminds me of Streets of Tarkov on a smaller scale with one street running through the middle. Similar to that map, I’m always weary of running out in the open but it’s often necessary when moving between buildings. There are a couple of places where players can watch you from a couple of stories up without you realizing it. This makes it especially dangerous if someone is sniping or camping a window looking for movement.
Players new and old will realize the introduction of Ground Zero led to new tasks/quests as well. So make sure you grab those before jumping in. They’re anything from taking out SCAVS/PMCs to tracking down certain locations. That aside, one thing I like the least about Ground Zero is how limited your extracts are. If you’re playing as a PMC, you’ll only have one reliable extract that doesn’t require special conditions.

In-Game Underground Map For Ground Zero
It’s worth including the in-game map above for the underground portion of Ground Zero. I’ve tried using the underground a bit to travel between buildings even though I’ve noticed certain entrances blocked off.
Unlike other maps, there aren’t any SCAV only exits.
No Special Conditions
Nakatani Basement Stairs | Emercom Checkpoint |
Has Special Conditions
Police Cordon V-Ex | Requires 5,000 Roubles per player extracting with a maximum of four players total. PMC players only and disappears after being used. (Video) |
Mira Prospect | Requires shooting a green flare into the sky at the location. Once in the right area, a message will appear saying, “Signal Flare Area”. (Video) |
SCAV Checkpoint (Co-op) | Requires a SCAV and PMC player together to extract. (Video) |
Dangerous Areas on Ground Zero in Escape from Tarkov
As I mentioned briefly already, the main street can be dangerous to run through since it’s out in the open. I’m also not a big fan of the park in front of the Terragroup building. Aside from having limited cover, there are also little bits of water that can slow your movement. Worst of all, be careful exploring the Empire building because there’s a tiny office with a claymore hidden behind a chair. If you enter the room, there’s a good chance it’ll get you.
I also noticed a PMC spawn below the Mira Prospect extract where there are mines only a few steps away from you. The only good thing I can say about the one time I hit it is that it didn’t break my legs. So while it probably varies, you may be okay even if you make the same mistake. Not that you want to have to heal immediately upon entering a raid.
Raid Boss Locations in the Ground Zero Map
Currently there aren’t any raid bosses on Ground Zero even though this could change at a later time. My guess is they don’t want to put too much pressure on new players even though the developers love to talk about how difficult their game is. Also, you wouldn’t be able to get a boss’s loot once you’re above level 20. Unless you join as a SCAV but then you’ll lose reputation with the Fence from killing other SCAVs.
With all that said, the developers do tend to make things a little crazy with pre-wipe events so it’s always possible something weird can happen around that time. Whether that means raid bosses wandering around different maps or something different altogether.
That’s all there is to this Ground Zero map guide for Escape from Tarkov. Be sure to check our guide hub for more guides or take a look at some of the ones I’ve recommended below.
