Knowing how to get bonds in the Roblox game Dead Rails will give you an advantage in later runs. This is because you can use them in the lobby to buy permanent classes or temporary items for a stronger start. While you can spend Robux to buy them, you can also find them along your journey. Here’s what you need to know!
Before you dive in, you may want to check out our Beginner’s Guide if you’re new to the game. It gives you a brief walkthrough of how to get started, alongside tips to stay alive.
How to Get Bonds in Dead Rails
Using Robux to Buy Bonds
The first way to get Bonds is by purchasing them with Robux in the lobby area. While many of you likely know already, Robux costs real money so not everyone will have access to it. Fortunately, the next section explains how to get Bonds without spending money.
For those of you who don’t mind spending Robux, head over to the Bank in the Dead Rails lobby. You’ll see stacks of Bonds on the table in front of the banker. Here are the conversion rates below:
- 5 – 49 Robux (9.8 Robux per 1)
- 10 – 79 Robux (7.9 Robux per 1)
- 20 – 129 Robux (6.45 Robux per 1)
- 50 – 199 Robux (3.98 Robux per 1)
Looting Certain Locations to Get Bonds
The second way to get them in Dead Rails is simply by playing the game. As you get better, you’ll be able to clear difficult areas that are more likely to have Bonds. For example, larger towns filled with zombies will often have a bank. You can take out the zombie banker that has a black top hat on to get a code for the vault. Every bank vault is filled with valuable items to sell, but they also frequently have Bonds to pick up.
After getting the code for a bank vault, you’ll need to spin the door handle to each number to input them. I like to drag the code from the banker to the vault door so I can see it while entering each number. But if you’re playing with friends, you can have them read the numbers to you as well. The good thing about picking up Bonds is that once you have them, you can’t lose them. This means it’s okay if you don’t successfully complete a run.
Dead Rails locations you can get Bonds from:
- Banks
- The Castle
- Fort Constitution
- The Outlaw Town at the end of your run inside each building
- Low chance at any other building
Sharing Bonds and How Speedrunning Works
You should share Bonds or set guidelines if you’re playing with others. But, if you’re playing alone, you can take them all for yourself. Aside from playing solo, some players team up to speedrun Dead Rails for more Bonds. While this won’t increase the amount available, you have a better chance of finding them more quickly. For example, skipping buildings that have a lower chance to spawn them and instead searching for towns or the Castle.
Some people use the Dead Rails Discord to team up for how they want to play. Regardless of whether that includes speedrunning or any other rules they may have in mind.
Once you’re back in the Dead Rails lobby, be careful about what you spend your Bonds on. Purchasing a new class is a permanent unlock so you can repeatedly use them. However, any other items you purchase in the lobby using Bonds will go away after a run. This includes Bandages, weapons, coal, etc. With that said, that’s all there is to this guide on how to get Bonds in Dead Rails!
