If you’re playing Muck and wondering how to respawn, this guide is for you. Unfortunately, if you’re playing this survival roguelite game alone, you won’t have a way to respawn. This feature is only in place for those playing online with other people. Continue reading our guide below for how a recent update changed the respawn system.
How to Respawn in Muck
As I previously mentioned above, if you’re playing in singleplayer, you can’t respawn. Unfortunately, if you die, you’ll lose all your progress immediately and have to start over. This is why some people recommend playing with others online instead. If you’re looking for people to play with, the Steam discussions are quite active with people posting lobby codes to join.
With that said, developer Dani changed the respawn system on June 8, 2021. Originally, as long as someone stayed alive in your server, everyone would respawn when a new day started. However, this is no longer the case. Now instead, when you die, you’ll drop a gravestone that other players can interact with.
Players can revive you by interacting with that gravestone only during the day. If you’re dealing with a raid of enemies at night, you’ll have to wait until the new day starts to revive your buddies. Otherwise, there is another useful trick that the developer added. If you’ve noticed Revive Totems around your world, you can revive teammates by spending some coins at one.
While I haven’t tested these totems myself, you can likely still use them at night. This is a good way to pay for some help if you’re still dealing with a tough group of enemies. Especially if you’re fighting the Big Chunk boss or even the Buff Big Chunk variant. Just wait until you accidentally spawn three of them at a challenge totem without being prepared for it. This is when those Revive Totems are sure to come in handy.
If you have any other Muck questions for me, feel free to comment below the article. I’ll do my best to get back to you and help out if I can. This is certainly a fun free survival game even if you can only get a few hours out of it. That’s why some players are taking to speedrunning it or seeing how many days they can survive.
If you’re looking for an overall beginner Muck guide, we recently put together one here to help people playing for the first time.

Yo, can you release a full updated item guide? I have reached godhood in muck a few times with full chunk gear, but I still have no clue what blue flowers do or the waterballs / fireballs / lightning balls do. They are dropped from the elemental raptor looking things but I can't find anything that explains what they do.
